D-A-CH Permafrost Conference 2024

The TUM Landslide group was pleased to attend the 14. D-A-CH Permafrost Conference 2024 in Oberelsbach from 10th to 12th January. The previous one-day PYRN workshop, which focused specially on topics for early career scientist, provided valuable insights and inspirations. We are particularly proud that Maike Offer received the prize for the best presentation, underlining the success of our contributions. Many thanks to the D-A-CH Permafrost Union and the team at the University of Würzburg for organising this fantastic event and the subsequent field excursion to the Rhön region.

We contributed with the following topics:

  1. Investigation of two retrogressive thaw slumps in NE Greenland using electric resistivity tomography. Saskia Eppinger, Thomas Lorentzen, Michael Krautblatter & Thomas Ingeman-Nielsen.

  2. Permafrost degradation in the Eastern Alps: Insights from three long-term monitoring sites in the Hohe Tauern Range, Salzburg, Austria. Ingo Hartmeyer, Markus Keuschnig & Michael Krautblatter.

  3. Hydrothermal processes in steep rock wall permafrost. Maike Offer, Markus Keuschnig, Samuel Weber, Ingo Hartmeyer & Michael Krautblatter.

  4. Warming permafrost rock slopes – mechanical modelling strategies. Michael Krautblatter, Georg Stockinger, Felix Pfluger, Philipp Mamot, Benjamin Jacobs & Saskia Eppinger.

  5. Laboratory calibration for arctic permafrost soils. Saskia Eppinger & Michael Krautblatter.
