One PhD opening is available for Fall 2019 (flexible start date), in the lab of Prof. Nikolaos Bouklas at Cornell MAE. https://www.mae.cornell.edu/faculty-directory/nikolaos-bouklas-0
The research topics are:
a) Mechanics/multiphysics of soft self-healing materials; damage response and fracture.
b) Mechanics of contractile microtissues - active elastocapilarity and plasticity.
The areas of interest in both topics are computational mechanics, continuum mechanics, fracture mechanics, contact mechanics and stability. Experience in continuum mechanics, finite element modeling and programming are highly desirable.
Interested candidates should contact Prof. Bouklas at firstname.lastname@example.org along with your CV, and a short statement of purpose. Application has to be formally submitted through the Cornell MAE website. (http://www.mae.cornell.edu/)
