Women’s Representative / Equality Officer

On the one hand, the objective of the Women’s Representative is to work towards the equality of women at the TUM. On the other hand, it is the objective of the Women’s Representative to awaken interest for professions in the field of natural science amongst female pupils. We would like to contribute towards increasing the ratio of women in responsible positions in order to give women a bigger say when it comes to subjects associated with universities and the politics of science. Women should be motivated to combine a family with a job.

Women’s representatives are active in many commissions, such as in review commissions, as well as in the faculty council.

This website provides you with a range of activities and recommended events by the women’s representatives.

Frauennotruf (Women's Emergency Call Centre)

Sexual harassment and sexism are not trivial!
Do you feel insecure, harassed, harassed or even threatened? You are not sure how you can react to unwanted advances, sexist remarks, etc.? We support all women within the scope of their employment and/or their studies at the TUM.

The Beratungsstelle Frauennotruf München has been the primary agency in the city of Munich to deal with complaints. In a new cooperation with the TUM Gender Equality Office they now offer free and confidential consultations directly on the TUM main campus. Consulting languages are German and English. Translation for other languages is provided on request. Further information can be found on the page Frauennotruf München of TUM.

Frauennotruf München is a non-profit organisation with the aim of counteracting violence against women and girls and supporting affected women and girls. The counselling centre is there for all women who have experienced border violations and sexual assaults. In addition to a crisis telephone, personal counselling, therapies and groups are offered. As part of the Munich Support Model against Domestic Violence/Partnership Violence (MUM), we cooperate with the police and offer proactive support to affected women.

Psychotherapeutic Advisory

A degree program offers many chances and opportunities. At the same time, it is a period of life that demands a lot from students and is often accompanied by major changes and stressful situations. Sometimes simply everything becomes too much. The problems grow over one's head and seem overpowering. In professionally conducted, trusting conversations, however, new perspectives can be opened up and solutions developed together.

In principle, all students who would like to receive counseling or talk about their problems with experienced psychologists can turn to the Advisory Network of the Munich Student Union.
The Psychotherapeutic and Psychosocial Advisory Service offers advice in the following cases, among others:

  • problems related to your studies (e.g. difficulty making decisions, fear of examinations, fear of authority)
  • relationship problems, problems finding a partner, dealing with having separated
  • isolation and contact anxiety (e.g. social phobias)
  • problems with leaving home (e.g. becoming independent of your parents, new orientation)
  • depression, anxiety, self-injury, thoughts of suicide, psychosomatic problems, eating disorders, compulsive disorders etc.
  • suffering caused by sexual abuse
  • addiction (e.g. drugs, gambling, computer or internet addiction)
  • integration problems experienced by students from abroad
