Manuel and his colleagues paper on Experimental investigation of thermal retardation and local thermal non-equilibrium effects on heat transport in highly permeable, porous aquifers is now published in the Journal of Hydrology. They used coupled solute and heat tracer tests to investigate systematically different methods to determine advective thermal velocities from thermal breakthrough curves. Furthermore, they showed, that local-thermal non equilibrium effects do not significantly influence the advective thermal velocity.
