Student Life at TUM

There is more at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) than just lectures and exams. Our students find a variety of ways to immerse themselves in campus life. They organize festivals, they get involved in student bodies, they join music clubs or set up creative research projects. TUM actively encourages these character-building activities.

Accommodation in Munich

Finding accommodation in Munich is difficult – but not impossible. You will be provided with various tips to make your search a little easier. Few students actually manage to get a place in one of Munich’s Student Union halls of residence. The majority rely on private accommodation. Options include flat-sharing, sublet rooms or a one-room flat.

Sports at TUM

Munich and its environs are a dream-come-true for sports enthusiasts. If the natural beauty of the Alps and the Bavarian lakes wasn’t enough, there’s also the Olympic Park built for the 1972 Games and now home to the University Sports Center (ZHS). Athletes who trained here have celebrated victories the world over.

Music and Arts at TUM

TUM's Architecture Museum is part of Munich’s "Pinakothek der Moderne" art museum. And that’s not all: Keen musicians can join one of Munich’s numerous academic choirs or orchestras.

Language Center at TUM

The TUM Language Center offers students, staff members and alumni the opportunity to develop and improve their foreign language skills (incl. German) and expert language knowledge for academic purposes. Courses and seminars in seventeen different languages are available during the semester. Additionally, block courses are provided during the semester break. The program also includes intercultural communication courses and events to enhance intercultural discourse.

The English Writing Center at TUM offers free one-to-one consulting in English writing to all members of the TUM community. The Center is staffed by both professional language instructors and student peer tutors, all of whom are native English speakers. The center helps you develop long-term proficiency in English writing.
