14th year of permafrost monitoring on the Zugspitze

2020 was the 14th year of permafrost monitoring on the Zugspitze for the Chair of Landslide Research. Despite the strong Covid limitations, our measurements have been conducted as always monthly, requiring a big logistical effort and even harder field-work.

We are therefore specially thankful to all the students that in 2020 worked in the Kammstollen:
- Frederik Reese and Jonas Brixle, responsible for ERT measurements;
- Gil Guberman, who started the monitoring with IP, taken over by Paul Schmid and then Saskia Brose;
- Florian Stürzer, developer of a new Arduino logger for water discharge;
- Kapil Tiwari, who investigated hydrostatic pressure.
We are also thankful to Julia Petzi, Maike Offer, Max Reinhard and Johannes Leinauer for their priceless help in the field.

A big thanks goes also to all the employees of the UFS Schneefernerhaus GmbH and the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG, for their big constant support.

See you in 2021, always on the Zugspitze!!!
